Redefining beauty through conscious choices.
Conscious Beauty 2020 is a month-long series of events exploring how to cultivate beauty across the entire value chain.
Featuring prominent voices in the industry, we will look at how brands can create products with environmental, social and cultural value, and how consumers can become a part of the process by making a conscious purchase. During the series of events we will celebrate and discuss the new economy that we see emerging: an economy that targets collective progress.
As consumers, we are conditioned to only consider the part of the clothing that is closest to us; the fabric it is made from and that covers our body. However, look deeper and you will see just how many lives that piece of fabric has touched, and how many people have been responsible for it. This same piece of fabric stretches in time and space whenever we think of it as the byproduct of a collective evolution.
Every piece of clothing is made from fabric that occupies space, and connects to the lives of so many people living thousands of miles apart. The way we purchase and consume our clothing defines our fashion footprint, and the future of our planet. By looking deeper into the process, we can start to make the conscious decisions to change the way we think about clothing, and embrace beauty in a conscious way.
Taking The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals Into Consideration
During this eye-opening series of events, we will link garments to their social and environmental footprint. In particular we will explore how fashion can contribute to reach SDG’s 8, 13, 14, 15 and 17.
The Conscious Beauty 2020 will take place from September 21st to October 22nd. Launching at the end of the New York Fashion Week and the start of the next session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 75),in parallel with Climate Week NYC 2020. The timing is not a coincidence. Our aim is to join the conversation about how the fashion and beauty industries can align with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
In particular we will explore how technologies, including blockchain, can help consumers and businesses work within the collective evolution framework.
